When this year’s 47th Annual Chicago Business Opportunity Fair presented by the Chicago Minority Supplier Development Council takes place on April 10-11 at the Navy Pier, MOTR Grafx LLC will definitely be on deck.
A veteran attendee of the oldest and largest procurement show in the nation exclusively devoted to multicultural and multiethnic businesses, the MWBE credits CBOF for much of its success.
“The impact of the CBOF on our business has been multifaceted,” said Delia Soboya, president and founder of MOTR Grafx. “Not only has MOTR Grafx been able to network with fellow MWBEs, the CBOF has provided the opportunity to meet potential clients with a few of those introductions resulting in successful business partnerships.”
One example is when the MWBE connected with Kraft Foods Group Inc. and W. W. Grainger Inc. at its first CBOF in 2005. These connections led to presentations at both companies for MOTR Grafx. The meetings, Soboya said, resulted in opportunities to print brochures for Kraft and banners for WW Grainger.
“I have to say the networking opportunities are what I enjoy most,” Soboya said. “It is refreshing to meet with my peers and hear about their successes and also their challenges. MWBEs should attend the CBOF because they’ll have the same opportunities to meet with other owners and potential customers.”
Considering many of the companies are small or minority-owned, Soboya said sharing experiences is how her company and others can get new ideas, whether it is how to better run a company or new marketing strategies.
“We love meeting potential clients,” she said. “This event provides a forum for us to introduce our company to those who may not know MOTR Grafx and also gives us the chance to reacquaint other clients with our capabilities.”
The MWBE will attend this year’s CBOF — themed “Segue to Success” — with more than 25 years of experience in the printing industry, assisted by co-owners Lissette Herin and Paul Litardo.
A Hispanic-owned company that launched in 2003, MOTR Grafx handles print and web layout, creates prototypes, manages finishing and handles pre-media and pre-press. In addition, the company specializes in fulfillment, mailing and distribution.
“We are unique in that our experienced team drives all projects from concept to market with absolute care to deliver a flawless finished product,” Soboya said. “We consider ourselves a team of solutions experts. We enjoy solving any marketing, design or print conundrum thrown at us.”
Thanks to the CBOF, MillerCoors LLC is one company that allows MOTR Grafx this opportunity.
“Our best success through the CBOF has been our relationship with Miller-Coors,” Soboya said. “One of the Miller– Coors representatives was walking the show when he stopped to look at our point-of-purchase samples. The breadth of our work, ability to print on a variety of materials and delivery of a quality product impressed him. The representative put us in touch with their agency in 2011. This account has grown to be one of our best clients.”
Aside from MillerCoors, other MOTR Grafx clients include Hard Rock Cafe International Inc. and NASCAR marketing agency PROtential Inc., among others.
Because of these clients, Soboya said her company has the chance to spread its creative wings by working on challenging projects. These clients combined with the continued success of CBOF are two strong reasons why MOTR Grafx will continue to grow and expand its client base
— not to mention why it has no intentions of missing any future CBOF events.
“CBOF has always been very supportive of us [and we will continue to support CBOF],” Soboya said. “CBOF provides us with a forum to display our newest ideas and demonstrate our uniqueness and capabilities.”
