Mitchell & Titus, LLP receives Partnership of the Year Award
NEW YORK: Mitchell & Titus, LLP (Mitchell & Titus), the largest minority-controlled accounting firm in the US, will be recognized as “Partnership of the Year” by the not-for-profit organization, Selective Corporate Internship Program of New York/New Jersey (SCIP). SCIP provides underserved high school students the opportunity to train in a business environment that prepares students for the next step to college, and advancement to a professional career. Anthony Kendall, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Mitchell & Titus will accept the award on behalf of the firm at SCIP’s 17th Annual Awards Gala to be held at Battery Park Gardens, New York City.
“Annually, we select distinguished companies that have demonstrated their commitment to SCIP by offering our students the opportunity to visit their workplace, and engage them in professional development activities, including resume writing, networking sessions and interviewing skill building. We are pleased to recognize Mitchell & Titus for their leadership and
support of students, and for the programs they have conducted over the last several years,” commented Miguel Mancebo, co-founder of SCIP.
“We are honored to receive this award from SCIP, which highlights one of our founding principles: to give back to our communities by mentoring and supporting socioeconomically disadvantaged students who are seeking a professional career, particularly in public accounting,î commented Mr. Kendall. ìWe are pleased to have had the opportunity to work with
SCIP and a number of the SCIP students, and look forward to continuing to advise the students who participate in their programs.”
For the past four years, Mitchell & Titus has hosted a group of approximately 40 students annually for a day of mock interviews and career panel discussions. In addition, the firm has assisted with interviewing students in preparation for placement in summer internship positions, and has participated in SCIPís Business Summit and Career Exposition.
SCIP will also recognize the following companies at this year’s 2014 Awards Gala: New York Life, Leadership of the Year award; First Tee of Metropolitan New York, Corporation of the Year award; JP Morgan Chase & Co. and PRIMER will also be named as Partnership of the Year recipients. The organization will recognize Mr. Claes Nobel, Co-Founder and Chairman of The National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS), and the senior member of the Nobel family that established the Nobel Peace Prize awarded to distinguished individuals annually.
Mark Whalen, former President of Electrolux Division, has been named as Advocate of the Year and Dr. Rudy Crew, President, Medgar Evers College and former Chancellor, New York City Department of Education, has been named as Ambassador of the Year.
